Stars

The Atacama Desert is one of the best places in the world to view the night sky due to its remote location, high altitude and dry climate. It's no surprise that the largest radio telescope in the world, the ALMA observatory, is located nearby, and that many of the worlds important astronomical facilities are situated in northern Chile. At the end of the trip, students will have the opportunity to visit the support facility of the ALMA observatory. We will also explore long exposure nighttime photography to capture the amazing display of stars visible each night above the high Atacama Desert.
